Christ is Born
Happy Second Day of Christmas!
We’ve had what feels like a bit of a whirlwind festival so far. My cold ended phase one (stuffy nose) and started phase two (really sore throat) on Christmas Day. Kind of a bummer, but I’m popping vitamin C and Airborne in the hopes of sending it on it’s way very soon.
We had a couple of early Christmas celebrations. The first was Sunday afternoon when we exchanged presents with Jim’s family and then on Christmas Eve when we celebrated our little family’s Christmas as that is when Michael, my stepson, would be with us for the holiday. For the first time in quite a few years, we actually have a Christmas tree. We did a way with an end table for the season in order to make room for it. It’s nice having one again.
We went to a dessert party last night on the same street in the city where I used to live. The area has really undergone some improvements of late and has become a very nice place to live. Today, we met some good friends at a pizza buffet for a little second day of Christmas celebration. Tomorrow, we’ll visit some more friends in our home before my family visits from North Carolina. Jim and I are not used to having so much to do. I actually said this morning “I’m not used to having a life.”
Things should settle down next week. The kids and I are taking the 12 days of Christmas off from school, which is a nice break. I’m hoping to take them to an art museum next week.
I have to admit that I’m already tired of eating. It’s a strange thing to say after we’ve been fasting for the 40 days prior to Christmas…but eventually it all just seems to be too much. I don’t know how we’ll ever eat all those cookies. The nice thing is that we can live off the leftovers for a few days so I get a break from cooking.
Currently, I’m engaged in operation laundry catch-up. I normally do a load a day but haven’t for the past few days. My inner domestic diva is starting to feel overwhelmed by the delinquency…and the house is a mess. But it will probably stay that way for a while.
Blessings of the feast to you and yours…
