Dad is Great!!
Gives us chocolate cake!
Jim gave the kids some leftover cake after they had breakfast this morning. This occurred after Michael came downstairs and tried to play me with his “after school special downhearted kid” eyes to get chocolate cake ‘cause he hadn’t been able to have any the night before, having gotten into large amounts of trouble for conveniently forgetting to tell us he needed to compile all of his social studies papers into one neat and easy to follow binder…due today. He has no social papers in his backpack to compile. Which doesn’t matter because we’re fresh out of binders to put them in. Needless to say, the Bill Cosby fatherhood stand up routine is a lot funnier *after* you have kids.
Anyway, after having passed out the forbidden baked delight, Jim stood over the table and intoned, “Now where’s my song.” The kids just stared at him. So I led them in a rousing chorus of “Dad is great….”
Upon completion of our troparion to dads and cake, Mike said. “Laura, you’re supposed to be coming down the stairs all mad about the cake.”
To which I replied, “I honestly don’t care if you have cake for breakfast.” Which might lower my mothering skills in the eyes of some…but…oh well!
Hope you have a great day!!
