More on trees...
Nov 19, 2007 The trees are changing into their finery for the annual striptease that leads to their naked slumber…
Yesterday, we went to one of our favorite romping grounds, the Cylburn Arboretum in Baltimore. Ana and I walked the trails while Jim and David took pictures. Actually, I think David climbed several trees…I only hope they weren’t the ones with signs hanging off them saying, “please don’t climb these trees.”
One of the trees Ana and I passed as we tromped the trails had a sign at its base, declaring it to be about 200 years old. “Imagine the strength of the wood” the sign commanded. Instead of imagining, I put my arms around the tree and gave it a hug, pressing my skin into it’s solidity. If that old tree can survive so many cycles of death and re-birth, surely me and my little family can survive one more.
God bless!
